Raw IR Setup Instructions
For mPhone on iPAQ 3800
with Nokia 8200 and 8800 series
1. Activate iPAQ's Raw IR device
2. Initialize Raw IR connection on Nokia phone
3. Configure mPhone with Raw IR port

About this document's purpose.
The document is written for the users who manage to use mPhone with their Nokia 8200/8800 mobile phone and want to manage the logo and ringtone.
The infrared port of Nokia 8200/8800 series phones can work under two modes, Standard IrDA mode and Raw IR mode. With standard IrDA mode, you can use the phone as the standard modem and manage its phonebook and SMS. If you want to upload logo or ringtone to the phone, you must use the Raw IR mode.

1. Activate iPAQ's Raw IR device
If you are using iPAQ 3600 or 3100 series without upgraded to Pocket PC 2002, you should skip this section.
First you should disable its built-in Beam function before you run mPhone. Tap Start button on the top of screen, then select Settings from the pop up menu. Tap the Connections tab button.

Uncheck the option and tap OK button. |
2. Initialize Raw IR connection on Nokia phone
a) Prepare on mobile phone
Normally, to activate the IR port on Nokia phone is select menu Menu->Infrared->Select. This way will activate infrared port into the standard IrDA mode, not the Raw IR mode. You should go the Menu->Games->Snake->2 palyers->Select to activate the Raw IR mode. If you have selected the standard IrDA before you enter the Raw IR mode, please wait the infrared be deactivated before you go through the Raw IR mode.

Note: please note that the blinking indicator indicates the infrared port is activated in Raw IR mode.
3. Configure mPhone with Raw IR port
Input the profile's name |
Select the model as Nokia 82xx/88xx |
Now the setup complete. |
