FAQ of CE-Star Suite 2.8 R2a for PPC 2003
A: What's the limit of trial version?
Q: Trial version only allows you use 10 minutes for Chinese keyboard input and 50 characters for
handwriting recognition.
A: What's difference of Suite and Standard version?
Q: The Suite version contains Chinese handwriting recognition. Standard version does not contain it.
A: How to register?
Q: Once you buy the product on our website, we will issue you the registration code to you via email within two business days.
Please follow these steps to activate the trial software into registered version with the registration code:
1. Make sure your device's owner name is set. If not, please set it in Start->Settings->Owner first
2. Launch CE-Star
3. Tap the CE-Star icon on Today screen
4. Tap Register menu item in the popup menu
5. Enter the registration code in the key field
6. Tap Register button to register
7. Tap OK button to close CE-Star
8. Re-launch CE-Star, check the popup menu, if the register menu item is still existing, the registration was failure
A: Note for HP iPAQ 6315/6365 users
Q: HP iPAQ 6315/6365 users, please complete these steps before you install CE-Star onto your devices:
1. Open File Explorer and go to the directory where you extracted the CE-Star installation package.
2. Open the sub-folder "PkPC", you will see two files "cestar.set" and "cestar6300.set" in this sub-folder.
3. Delete "cestar.set"
4. Rename "cestar6300.set" to "cestar.set"
5. Now you can run setup.exe in extracted directory to install CE-Star.
A: Where's the dictionary? I don't find it after installation.
Q: CE-Star's installation package does not contain dictionary. please download PkDict in
CE-Star download page.
A: My desktop Windows can not read Chinese files created on Pocket PC.
Q: For English Windows 2000/XP, please go Control Panel=>
Regional and Language Settings=>Advanced, then change the setting in
"Language for non-Unicode programs" to "Chinese (Taiwan)" or
"Chinese (Hong Kong)" for Traditional Chinese, or "Chinese (PRC)"
for Simplified Chinese.
Then press OK button apply the change. This change may ask you to restart your Windows.
A: Why no response after tap CE-Star to launch it?
Q: After you tapped the CE-Star icon in start menu or in Programs, it started then display a
small icon on the right-bottom of the Today screen. Switch to Today screen, you will see the icon.
A: Line-breaking error in Chinese paragraph.
Q: It is known issue in English Windows Mobile. In very long Chinese text paragraph without non-Chinese characters, the link-breaking will be incorrect.
A: Where's my english quick input?
Q: After install CE-Star onto your device and turn your device default system Language into Chinese, CE-Star also disable the
original english IME by default. Because this IME will work incorrectly under Chinese environment in some
special situations and cause the current application exited without saving current work document.
If you still need the english IME to speed up your English input, please use registry editor utility
to change the registry:
1. Open the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1
2. There's two values under the key: "Default" and "Old"
3. Change the "Default"'s value to the value of "Old"
4. Do soft-reset
Note: if you turn on the English IME again, we strongly recommend you only use CE-Star input panel and
Handwriting recognition panel to input non-Chinese characters in Chinese document editing. Otherwise, you use
other input panels to input symbol characters after input some Chinese characters will cause the application
exiting.
